Alloy Cast Steel Roll materials are eutectoid steel and hypereutectoid steel. Adding alloy content such as Cr, Ni, Mo, and V up to more than 0.8%, carbon content 0.4~1.3%. The matrix structure, after heat treatment of normalizing and tempering, becomes sorbite and tempered sorbite. This type of steel mill roll possesses high strength, good toughness, good resistance to hot cracking, and strong impact resistance. The cast steel roll employs monoblock casting process (single pour): Melting-Casting-Heat Treatment-Machining-Flaw Detection-Finished Products. It can be work rolls for blooming and slab mills, section roughing mill rolls, as well as backup rolls for hot-strip steel rolling mills. Adamite Roll Introduction The semi-steel adamite roll is casted as a whole and there is no weak interface in compound casting roll, thus it has a better capacity, strength and toughness than cast iron roll. This kind of mill rolls can be used as work roll, back-up roll and vertical roll for large-class and medium-class rough rolling mill and intermediate rolling mill of section steel, wire rod, rail beams, steel billet, hot rolling steel strip. Most of the adamite steel rolls are produced by the static integral casting method. It must be subjected to high-temperature diffusion annealing. Generally, adamite rolls for steel rolling mills are required to control the total amount of non-metallic inclusions below 0.05%. The centrifugal composite semi-steel back-up rolls are made of adamite steel material, the body and neck of the rolls are made of nodular cast iron, and they have been successfully used in hot-rolled strip steel finishing mill.

Forged steel rolls have toughness, surface hardness uniformity and fatigue resistance and widely used to the cold rolling mill. The mill rolls are made from steel ingots by forging. Forging can solve metallurgical defects such as loose and shrinkage holes in the ingot, and crush the coarse cast structure to obtain a high-quality roll with dense structure and uniform composition. The production process of forged roll includes smelting, ingot casting, forging, post-forging heat treatment, rough processing, final heat treatment and finishing. The rolls are heat-treated differently depending on the material and application. They are mainly used as strip rolling mill work roll and backup roll, H-type steel universal–shaft, High-speed roll(HSS roll), Cr4 steel backup roll, Cr5 forged steel roll, 86CrMoV7 forged steel roll, 42CrMo forged steel roll, MC2, MC3, MC5, MC6 forged steel roll, etc.

HSS Roll High speed steel roll known as HSS roll are a kind of hot roll material with excellent performance. The application of high speed steel roll is an important component of the development of modern steel rolling production and another major technological change in the development of the steel industry. High speed steel rollers have higher hardness and wear resistance than traditional rollers. The centrifugal casting high-speed steel rollers have been widely used in the production of hot-rolled narrow strip steel, sheet steel, section steel, rebar, spring flat steel, high-speed wire and other fields. They are not only used for working rolls, but also for the back-up rolls.

The cast iron roll is produced by a horizontal centrifugal casting process with high-speed steel as the work layer and nodular iron as the core. The material of centrifugal casting iron roll contains plenty of alloying elements such as Mo, Ni, Cr, etc. The high hardened eutectic carbides & second carbides, evenly distributed in tempered martensitic matrix, make the wear and thermal cracking resistance very excellent. Besides, the resistance to surface roughing is also good. In a condition of hot rolling, the contact points between steel strip and the work rolls can form a thin adherent oxide film on the roll surface, which plays a good role in the wear features and the quality of the strip surface. The main application is as a working roll for hot-rolled strip leveling rack and rack of high-speed wire mill.
